SUMMER 2015 BEACH RALLY & BBQ We had an informal club rally at Leysdowne Beach rounded off with a sizzling BBQ in a club member’s garden. The weather was extremely hot; weather reports gave the highest temperature for the day as 29 degrees, but in reality it was mid 30’s for most of it. Not many finds other than the usual bullets, iron boat chains etc, but we did come up with a small handful of reasonable artefacts. The point of the day however was not so much finding stuff, but enjoying a friendly get-together. The day was enjoyable, with plenty to eat . Thank you Vivienne and Peter for that, and a big thank you too for Martin and Mandy for the those gorgeous home made desserts. After the enduring heat the club spent the evening relaxing with beers under the very welcoming shade of the Pear Tree in the garden, where conversation spilled out as freely as the beers. There was even a debate as to whether or not we should strip the Pear Tree of its fruits and make it into wine. |
